Purgatory Chasm






Chasm – noun |KAZ-uh m|
A yawning fissure or deep cleft in the earth’s surface; gorge.

Purgatory – noun plural |Pur guh tawr-ee|
A condition or place in which the souls of those dying penitent are purified from venial sins, or undergo the temporal punishment that, after the guilt of mortal sin has been remitted, still remains to be endured by the sinner.

Purgatory Chasm – noun proper 
|Pur guh tawr-ee  KAZ-uh m|
A state owned geological preserve and recreation area with a park and various hiking trails, located in the town of Sutton, Massachusetts.  The chasm runs a quarter of a mile between granite walls that are, at times, seventy feet high.
