See that long strip of, what looks like, dark blue water in the distance? Well, that’s actually Long Island, off the coast of New York.

Here is a better visual (see the above map). There we were in Madison, CT (red arrow on map) and there is Long Island, probably fifty miles away or so. From Madison, the island is literally barely visible by day resembling a thin, vertical wave barrier. By night, the land lights up with radio towers and aircraft warning lights. It’s pretty cool to see places from a different perspective.
