Saturday was such a lovely day to pick your own (P.Y.O.) variety of apples (Empire, Red Delicious, Cortland, Macintosh, Jonagold, Mutsu and Wine Sap) at Honey Pot Hill Orchards, located in Stow, Massachusetts.
Honey Pot’s P.Y.O. fields are really incredibly vast and amazing to explore. You never know what you will find simply wandering around.
If you walk up towards the top of the apple orchard you will find some incredible views of Stow. I found a hidden orchard through the woods that had some unique kinds of apples and stumbled across a juicy pear or two, ripe to eat, and delicious.
Apparently, they have a new hard cider tent in lot B, which unfortunately I did not get the chance to visit. There is always next year…
Still, I did take the time to stop at the farm stand, packed with people waiting for fresh cider donuts, purchasing pumpkins, apples, apple cider, candy apples, honey sticks and a variety of other fresh and seasonal produce.
If you get a chance, take a trip to Honey Pot Hill Orchards and P.Y.O. apples in late October, especially if the weather is not too cold! The variety of produce is great, there are still plenty of apples on the trees and the foliage is AMAZING. Need I say more…
Yum! Great post!
