3,165 feet Up Mount Monadnock

From the gate to the very top it’s about 3,165 feet to get to the summit of Mount Monadnock.

The trail that I decided to take was approximately two miles. Crazy to think that a simple two miles can take 2 hours when you are basically vertical the majority of the hike!

Anyway, the park rangers suggest to take the white dot trail up and the white cross path down, which was exactly what I did. However, due to the recent rain, they were both extremely muddy, making the rocks slippery.

The hike was fun, but because of the mud it was a ton of work; sometimes you had no choice but to rely on upper body strength to keep moving upward and onward.

Going down seemed easier than going up, but that could be because I already knew what to expect that that point.

Anyway, when I got to the bottom, I always feel a metaphorical wave of victory. It’s amazing to look back and see where I was not too long ago.
